Reviews for the Continentale

We are 3 couples travelling together from Australia. This was our first self navigating boat trip. We have done a river cruise in the past. We were expecting a leisurely cruise down the river and canal.
The Continentale boat suited our needs very well and we were happy with the layout. However the maintenance of the boat was not acceptable. We had to get Jamie to come to Nerac the next morning after we left Condom to repair the front Toilet (No Water),replace a shower head that was Spraying water everywhere and look at the steering on the boat. He add some hydraulic oil to the system. This had no effect on steering on the boat which was terrible. I have had a lot of experience with boats and with constant lock to lock steering we navigated the river. There is a problem with the rudder not responding to the hydraulics. We suggested on arrival at the end of the cruise that the boat was unsafe to use as it was.
The weather and the canal were both beautiful. You can choose the canal but not the weather. We had 2 retired couples on board for the week and it worked out perfect.
Well laid out and furnished. The WiFi made a big difference connecting with the office - only when we had to!!
Being with friiends experiencing the holiday
The boat was easy to handle but showed signs of ageing and the house batteries could not maintain enough charge to operate the fridge overnight and some of our food was spoiled. The fridge system does not have the capacity for cooling during the hot summer months. We had issues with a shower pump and a mechanic came straight out. Also we had a blocked toilet
The scenery was beautiful. Louhans has great market on Mon. If you start your cruise on Sun or Mon make sure to visit it. Don't miss lovely towns of Chalon, Verdon, Auxone, and Gray. Actually, every town or village on the route is a gem. If you cruised on the canals before, be aware this cruise is on he river. You cannot stop wherever you want - only at the designated places. Also, there are not bike passes along the river.
Boat is comfortable for 3 families. Well stocked and clean. We had toilet clogged and it was solved in 1.5 hrs - good job!
Our holiday spent on a boat on the Norfolk Broads in July 2013 was just perfect. The boat was a Continentale hired through "Le Boat". The holiday was made all the better because throughout the week we were away, the weather was hot and sunny. Just right for a boating holiday.
Our party was made up of Mum, Dad, grown up daughter and two grandsons so the layout of the boat was ideal for us. Mum and Dad in forward cabin, daughter and grandsons in the two cabins at the back of the boat with the galley in between. We especially liked the large sundeck where we spent most of our time with most meals being taken there too. Facilities on the boat were good with everything one needed for a week's holiday on a boat.
