Reviews for the Crusader

Perfect for 5 of us, 4 adults and 1 teenager. We were all inexperienced with canal cruising, but soon got in the swing of it all and thoroughly enjoyed negotiating the locks. Cooked on board each night, plenty of space and full facilities.
Perfect size.,definitely recommend
My husband and I took a 10 day cruise. We had done the French canals last year so had a little experience. It was the first time for our 2 friends but it was a pleasurable experience for us all. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us and it rained every day. We sailed north from Laggan to Inverness and because of the poor weather decided to stay there for a few days and rented a car and toured the area quite extensively. Audrey, the very kind lady at Caley Cruisers Inverness was very helpful organising a taxi and hire car. Thank you Audrey. The overnight stops we made along the way were peaceful and we mostly had no neighbours. The much dreaded middies only came out once and that was at the lock at Kytra on the way up.
We travelled as two couples so we used the spare cabin for our suitcases. Not sure how you manage without the extra room because there is certainly no room in your cabin to store luggage. We preferred to use the boat showering facilities because the onshore facilities were not to standard apart from the ones at Inverness.
I travelled with my husband. He had some boating experience from more than 30 years ago. I had none. We were keen to combine seeing lesser known parts of Burgundy with a canal boat experience. We wanted a relaxing holiday.
Because we had originally planned to go with our sons, we ended up with a larger boat than we really needed. We appreciated the extra room but it was more than we really needed. The boat was well fitted out. The kitchen was efficient and we very quickly got used to the bathroom set up. As you would expect, the bathrooms are small but very workable. We have already sent some information to friends who may be interested. Even with only two of us, the boat was manageable in every respect.
This was our 5th Le Boat cruise. There were 4 of us aboard. We wanted to add to our experience in Brittany last year.
Having to wait on five separate occasions for the engineer to come and attend to a breakdown of the boat.
This boat was a disgrace. Before we left Homps we noticed the captains seat on the upper deck was broken. It could not be replaced. The whole fitting had to be removed and a plastic chair used instead. The table on the upper deck was too large to seat even our four people around it, let alone the six for which there were berths. The umbrella on the upper deck could not be secured properly to its base and could not be used when the boat was moving without it blowing away. The bedding was old and tired , with one thin, tiny pillow per bunk.
