Classed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, La Charité sur Loire was an important stop on the pilgrimage route of Saint Jacques de Compostelle. L'église Notre Dame, (the church) is an absolutely magnificent example of Roman architecture and should not be missed.

The book Fair is geld in the spring, and there is an annual fair - Foire au Livres Anciens et Vieux Papiers (old books and papers) on 20th July 2008 and the Nuit du Livre on 2nd August 2008.
