Why do we recommend stopping here?

This is a town equally proud of its traditional and cosmopolitan ways, located between the famous Languedoc and Provence departments. There is an excellent range of shopping in the town and nearby, and hte town offers a good range of general services. 'Les Beaux Quais' are a series of musical evenings on the quayside in July and August.

What is there to see?

The old sqaure with flower covered facades. The Abbey of Saint Romain. Le Vieux Mas, and Mas des Tourelles

Visit the Collegiate church of Notre Dame des Pommiers the Château Royal, and the Auguste Jacques Museum

Is there anything else worth mentioning?

At Beaucaire you are approximately 20 kms from the famous town of Arles, where Van Gogh painted many of his most famous works. It was whilst lliving at Arles he began to use the swirling brush strokes and intense yellows, greens, and blues associated with such typical works as Bedroom at Arles, painted in 1888, and Starry Night painted in 1889. You can see the influences behind many of his painting as you cruise in the Camargue.
