Why do we recommend stopping here?

Sete is a very interesting town but also a very busy maritime port with enormous commercial vessels and with constraints of bridge opening hours, risks of very strong winds and limited mooring space, it's not terribly easy to go to Sete by boat. It is more accessible from Frontignan (entrance of the Canal du Rhône à Sète) by train, taxi or bus.

What is there to see?

The Port, the mariners graveyard , The Georges Brassens Museum, Take a walk to Mont Saint Clair from where you'll discover the superb panorama over the Mediterranean, the lake (Etang de Thau) and the first Cevennes spurs.

What can I visit?

Espace Georges Brassens, Cimetière Marin, Paul Valery Museum

Is this place famous for anything?

It is often called the 'Mediterranean Venice' due to all the channels through the town

There are a lot of restaurants at Marine pier and Corniche Beach, popular with tourists and locals alike. Many specalise in fish and are generally open from 12.00 - 15.00 and again from 9.00 to midnight
