Reviews for the The Golden Midi Cruise

6 on board, all friends. 4 went on a narrow boat trip in UK 2 years ago
The whole trip was very interesting, we even went to Narbonne and back and we were glad we did that because it is a wonderful place to visit. The locks were not difficult and with 3 males on board it was easy. Le Boat bases were helpful with a few minor problems and it was good to tie up with full power and water available.

The Le Boat staff were all very helpful and resourceful. The farmer who came to side of our boat with a basket full of vegetables for a very reasonable price was delightful, especially when he returned with more produce later for free.
We would definitely recommend the side trip down the Canal de la Robine to Narbonne which is very historic and interesting town with an excellent market.

the beautiful countryside and quaint little towns we visited. The canal was not crowded and for the most part, the people were friendly
we stopped at little towns and explored what they had to offer. The canal was very scenic but would recommend doing it sooner than later to others as they will be removing quite a lot of the diseased trees and that will change the look and feel of the canal for the next 100 years

We had an awesome time. BBQ in the middle of the countryside, cycling into town, cheese wine and local preserves for lunch, walking around medieval villages.
I regret not going to more local market days, but sometimes we were unsure of our timing and worried about making the locks. Taking bicycles with are a must although our boat only had space for them on the front and is was a pain getting the bikes on and off. It was great to get off the river and cycle to the closest village for lunch or dinner.

This was a chance for six friends to get together for a week's worth of relaxation, good food (and drink) in a very laid back environment. We enjoyed the leisurely pace of travel, the constantly changing scenery, and the evenings at rest.
This is a journey with a lot of attractions along the way - Castelnaudary itself, Carcassonne (even the new town), Trebes, Homps, Ventenac, Le Somail, the Malpas visitor centre, the lock staircase at Beziers - are all worth a longish visit. The weather during the week was so hot that we were glad of the many lock-keepers' shops selling ice cream!
