We really enjoyed our week on board "Caprice". Le Boat staff were very helpful and friendly. The boat met our expectations in all respects and the scenery along the River Lot considerably exceeded them. I would probably have given 5 stars were it not for the fact that I thought that the boat handover and instructions were a little bit rushed, resulting in a couple of items not being attended to before we set off. These were soon attended to and remedied, however.

Firstly, this is the fourth time we have barged in France. Le Boat never told us, nor was it mentioned on their website, that the locks on the Lot River are not automatic. We hired 2 bicycles for 4 people but were not given the key needed to adjust the seats of the bicycles - which did not suit any of us! Thus we could only use the bicycles on one occasion when the folk in the barge next to us had a key to adjust the seats.
In the past I have always given 5 stars - this time we did not find the locks at all easy

The scenery on the Lot is lovely, but moorings poorly maintained. Quite demanding for 2 people .

The booking service and checking in was very straight forward although we were kept waiting some time prior to booking in and this was in the low season - not sure how long it would take in the high season.
I was please with the package price of the boat which we hired along with a BBQ and start up pack. Having paid what we thought was the price for a reasonably luxurious boat I was horrified to find we then had to pay extra for a light for the upper deck and for lock gloves and at the end of the trip we had to pay an extortionate amount for the fuel used. Surely Le Boat know that customers will need a light on deck for health and safety reasons and that gloves are required for the same reason. Also I would expect all boats will on average travel the same journey during the time on board. Having this information at hand, surely Le Boat could include it in the price thus giving the customer an 'all inclusive' price rather than asking for more money as soon as you arrive to check in ? The feeling of being 'taken for a ride' with these extras right at the beginning of the holiday leaves a sour taste and does not bode well for the holiday. I am sure others would prefer not to have extra financial demand for things which I believe should be included for the safety of the boat.I look forward to your comments if you bother to read my comments

Hi Marion, I am sorry to read that you felt you were being taken for a ride with the extras that you opted to buy at the base. Unfortunately, there is no way that we can include fuel in the price of our cruises, as some people choose to cruise further distances that others, and it would be unfair to charge one set price for all journeys, when some use more than others. We only charge for any fuel that was used as we feel this is the fairest way. As for the lamp and gloves that you hired/purchased, both of these items were recommended as things to pack in an email that you would have received prior to departure. The recommended kit list is also on our website in the Before You Go section. We provide these items for hire/sale at the base in case anyone has forgotten to bring their own torch or gloves - neither are compulsory in order to cruise and we would never insist that anyone purchase them.

Excellent booking portal and service, especially with a local office. Reception on site and training was very good, and great boat presentation.
Boat presentation was very good, but you should provide some basic cleaning products (low cost items but they would be much appreciated). This did NOT take anything away from the wonderful experience we enjoyed - highly recommended holiday!!
