FAQs
Yes. A Le Boat boating holiday on rivers and canals is calm, slow-paced, and family-friendly. Life jackets are provided, and you receive a full safety briefing before departure, so everyone on board feels comfortable from the start.
No problem. Most Le Boat guests are new to boating. You’ll receive a full induction and time on the water with a team member until you feel confident to continue on your own.
No boating licence is required for most Le Boat destinations. After your briefing, you are given a temporary permit for your holiday. In some parts of Germany, a local permit is needed.
Yes. Dogs are welcome on Le Boat holidays, with a maximum of two per boat and a small cleaning supplement.
- Riverside paths and countryside stops make this a great holiday to share with your dog.
- Some boat layouts are better suited for larger dogs; the Le Boat team can advise.
Le Boat holidays are designed as multi-day experiences, with a minimum stay of two nights. Instead of a day hire, you can choose:
- Short breaks from 2 nights.
- One-way routes between two bases.
- Hire a skipper on the Canal du Midi for your first day as part of your holiday extras.
Most Le Boat bases offer secure parking for an additional fee. Some bases can accommodate caravans with advance notice. We advise you to check your base information page for details before you arrive.
Simple and enjoyable. Locks may be manual, automatic, or lockkeeper-operated, depending on the region. The Le Boat team will explain to you how to use locks during your briefing, and many guests find that they become a highlight of their holiday.
