Experience this!
Just a great experience. The following things were excellent: the boat quality, the friendliness, knowledgeability and helpfulness of the staff, the scenery, the way we all switched off and didn’t check our phones for 4 days, the towns and villages along the Shannon and her lakes.

What a great vacation we had
What a great vacation we had, the region is amazing and the people we met were so friendly. Le Boat looked after us really well, the check in process was good and informative and got our vacation off to a great start. We had a wonderful time, you can’t ask for more than that.

Highly recommend Le Boat on the Rideau Canal!
We had a fantastic experience with Le Boat and would definitely recommend them. Our Horizon 3 boat was the perfect size for 3 couple, very comfortable and more than capable of handling the Rideau Canal, especially with both bow and stern thrusters which made navigation and docking much easier.
We chose to travel right after Labor Day weekend, which turned out to be ideal since traffic on the canal and through the locks was very quiet and stress-free.
Le Boat in Smith Falls (Ontario) has quite a large fleet, so there were plenty of options to choose from, and along the way we met several other cruisers who had already done multiple trips with them which really says a lot about the quality of the experience. Many were from the US.
From start to finish, the booking process was pretty smooth. Our agent, Alejandra, did a great job walking us through the options, extras, and logistics of splitting payments between 3 couples. Danielle and Veronica in the Smiths Falls office were extremely helpful and made sure everything was ready to go for us to enjoy our cruise.
Overall, it was a wonderful trip, and we’ll definitely consider booking another cruise with Le Boat in the future, hopefully next year!

4 night Trent-Severn getaway
We had a lovely (if too short!) getaway on the Trent-Severn waterway. The Horizon 1 was easy to handle and very comfortable for 2 people. The advice we received on route planning and timing was helpful, particularly given the shorter off-season lock operating hours. We will definitely consider doing this again!

Our second great experience with Le Boat and we will do it again
We had the Horizon 1 in Aquitaine this year, our second boating experience with Le Boat in France. The boat is lovely and perfect for two people who are used to a bit of space. It could fit more, but adults and children only in my view.
The boat is easy to manoeuvre with thrusters on the bow and stern.
The team at Le Boat are very helpful, booking is easy.
A very different experience to the canal du midi last year, a lot more relaxed, although a lot to see and do on the canal du midi.
Must go to Nerac on the River Baise when in the Aquitaine region, it is beautiful and the river is even more beautiful than the canal to navigate.

Our First LeBoat Canal Trip
An amazing new trip experience going along the canals in France driving your own boat. It’s like a caravan on water. Only tip I’ll give you for first timers is to take your journey down river as it’ll make the challenges of the locks a lot less work

Excellent service from beginning to end
Excellent service from booking to finishing. The staff at check-in and refunding our deposit were brilliant, couldn’t have been more helpful. We went on a family trip and we all really enjoyed it enough to want to do another trip.

Highly recommend! We love le boat-ing
We just returned from our second le boat experience. We have now rented le boat in both France and Canada and we loved every moment of each trip. Firstly, the boats are beautiful!! They are far more luxurious and comfortable than anything else we’ve seen for rent. You’d think you were on a private yacht!! They are well maintained and easy to navigate, extremely well equipped and have all the comforts of home. The staff at both our locations were informative, helpful and very friendly. We love being on the water and the opportunity it gives you to see sites you would never see any other way!

Cruising from Smiths Falls up to Chaffey’s Locks and back…
Cruising from Smiths Falls up to Chaffey’s Locks and back was a perfect route for our 4-day trip on the Horizon 3. Very scenic and picturesque! The route includes just 4 locks, with a winding river, some short narrow cuts, and stretches that open into small to larger lakes. Going right after Labor Day was ideal, with very little boat traffic and no issues finding mooring space. The only challenge was a few windy stretches crossing Big Rideau, but overall the cruise was smooth and very enjoyable. Would definitely recommend doing this route.

Our actual journey was Tannay – Decize.
Le Boat are an excellent company to deal with. They are incredibly helpful and really want you to have a great time. They are full of advice and support. Even the technicians are friendly and happy to support.
The route goes through some of the least populated areas of France. We spent two nights out in the countryside, one in the centre of a huge forest. We wouldn’t see another boat for hours at a time despite it being peak season. There were some lovely buildings to be seen on the way and lots of wildlife in the canal and out of it.
This is a great route if you’re happy to cook for a few nights on board and you are after peace and tranquillity. There are limited opportunities to eat out or buy supplies along the way. I think the journey would be better Decize to Tannay. That way the flight of 16 locks would be downhill. A much more pleasant experience.

Le Boat’s Horizon 3 was an ideal rental boat for 3 couples! Each couple had their own bedroom and bathrooms. Tight but comfortable. Kitchen galley was well equipped with everything you need including both a large and smaller fridges. The boat was in great shape just some expected wear and tear. The bow and stern thruster really make the cruise less stressful as it was very maneuverable in the locks and have the top deck helms made it that much more enjoyable in decent weather conditions. Highly recommend!

Any company that rents out expensive machinery to inexperienced operators, especially as it weighs several tons and has no brakes, must be a bit bonkers. You have to accept that the boats will have had a level of wear and tear. Our boat was mechanically sound and in good condition.
This layout suits two couples perfectly. The two bedrooms have their own facilities. There’s a well equipped kitchen and a large dining space, plus another space on the fly bridge.
Importantly for this route this boat is self sufficient in that it can run its air conditioning from its generator rather than relying on reaching a source of electricity.

The liberty is a new model and an excellent choice. We didnt need to use many of the features *smart TV, air conditioning, microwave ) but appreciated the 2 showers and toilets, bow and stern thrusters, upstairs steering option and upstairs fridge and BBQ. the sun shade was also appreciated.
