No boat license required
That's right! You can rent and captain your own boat for a short break (3 nights minimum), a week or longer. We'll show you everything you need to know before you set off.
To make working out the end cost of your vacation easy, we have broken down all the costs you will need to consider, into three simple sections.
1. Costs when you book…
Boat cost
The vacation prices shown on this website are for the rental of one boat for the duration specified, regardless of how many people intend to travel. Any applicable offers, unless a specific promotion code is required, are automatically applied.
Rental of the boat, its facilities and equipment, which includes:
Fully equipped kitchen on board.
Fridge, gas oven, burners, dishes and utensils.
Bathroom facilities on board.
Hot showers, toilets and towels.
Sleeping facilities on board.
Pillows, duvets and bed linen.
Heating & Air conditioning
Pre-departure briefing
Boat handling demonstration.
Daily technical support and assistance from the local Le Boat team as required.
Compulsory mooring fees for Canada, Scotland and Italy (see compulsory costs)*
One way supplement for routes starting and ending at different bases.*
*These supplementary fees are automatically added where applicable and are included in prices shown on this website. They are then shown separately in the price summary, when you proceed to book.
Other optional costs
We have many optional extras available to help make your vacation more easy, comfortable and fun. We recommend that you book any extras before you travel, as some extras may not be available at short notice. Visit our extras page for more information.
Damage Liability Reduction (DLR)
When you collect your boat at the start of your vacation, you must pay a refundable Damage Deposit (see below). If you lose or damage your boat your liability is limited to the amount collected. However, you can significantly reduce the amount of deposit required, and thus your liability, by purchasing a non-refundable Damage Liability Reduction (DLR).
Vacation extras
Optional add-ons you can purchase include:
Bikes
Barbecues & lanterns
Deck cushions
Early check-in & late check-out
Wi-fi
Angling dinghy
Stand-up paddle boards
And more…
Please note that not all extras are available at all bases. All Liberty boat bookings include selected vacation extras free of charge.
2. Costs at the base…
When you arrive, our base staff look forward to welcoming you to their cruising region and aim to make your arrival and vacation as smooth and enjoyable as possible. The reception team are also required to take a Fuel Deposit and a Damage Deposit from you by way of a credit card.
You will have to pay a refundable Damage Deposit at the base before you begin cruising. The Damage Deposit will be retained (in part or in full) when you return your boat IF the boat or any of its equipment or inventory that has been damaged or lost. You will not have to pay more than the deposit collected. Please read our terms and conditions for full details and costs.
Please note: the amount of Damage Deposit required, and thus your liability, may be significantly reduced by purchasing a non-refundable Damage Liability Reduction (DLR). See above and optional extras for details.
A Fuel Charge covers the fuel you use to power the boats engine as well as onboard systems (such as heating), gas and general engine wear & tear. At your start base, you are required to leave an Fuel Deposit in local currency. At the end of your cruise, your Fuel Charge will be calculated based on the number of hours your engine has been running and you will either be refunded the difference or asked to pay for any excess hours used. See compulsory costs for more details.
3. If and when needed…
You’ll need to plan for travel costs, personal insurance as well a few smaller costs that you might encounter during your vacation.
You are responsible for organising and purchasing you own travel arrangement to and from our bases. Take a look at our helpful base pages for the best ways to travel to/from our bases, as well as loads of useful information on what you might find when you arrive.
When planning your vacation you may also want to budget for the following costs:
Services at marinas/moorings – including electricity, showers
Mooring fees where a charge is applicable
Lock fees in Ireland and the Netherlands
Food and drink
Travel Insurance is an important part of every Le Boat booking. We strongly recommend everyone who books with us takes out adequate cover, whether holidaying abroad or domestically.
