Suggested Itinerary

Arrive at base

They will make sure you are comfortable and confident controlling the boat, as well as navigating the waterway, before you set off.

Food for the journey: With both Colruyt and Aldi grocery stores just an 8 minute drive from our base, we recommend picking up a few essentials for dinner and a scenic first breakfast on board before you set off – just make sure to allow yourself a little time to pop into town and stock up.

10 night alternative

If you’ve booked extra nights, we highly recommend extending your time in both Bruges and Ghent – two of Flanders’ most captivating cities. With an extra day in Bruges, you’ll have time to dive deeper into the medieval magic of the old town, explore its quieter corners by bicycle, or take a guided walking tour to uncover hidden courtyards and lesser-known stories of the city. You might also treat yourself to a visit at the Groeningemuseum, where you can explore six centuries of Belgian art in one location, from Flemish primitives to modern masters – Bruges is full of small delights when you’re not in a rush. In Ghent, an additional night means you can explore beyond the city centre. Consider a visit to the Museum of Fine Arts or take a guided cycling tour through the city’s artistic and industrial neighbourhoods. For something unique, stop in at the STAM city museum for a fascinating look at Ghent’s past and future. If you fancy doing more boating, cruise at a gentler pace and even detour slightly off the main route towards Aalter or Drongen if you’re feeling adventurous – both of which offer charming small-town scenery and a peaceful change of pace.
