Best vacation, the boat was clean and very comfortable. It was very easy to operate, and the waterway guide was helpful One issue is that the internet could have worked a little better So comfortable, looking forward to our next boat trip

as we have done previously we had a great time on the Canals and rivers in Brittany. didn't have any hassles and knew you were there to help if needed. this was a new boat and everything worked well and mostly was well placed, we would have made a few design changes maybe with loosing a window above the sink to the right and having some storage space. also wonder if somewhere for storing suitcases like under seats on the top deck, we were traveling for 5 weeks so we all had lots of luggage and even unpacked there was not enough storage.

The Horizon 4 is a very comfortable boat for six to 8 people. It is built to "just-fit" the French canals. Base personnel could not have been more helpful. Une Croisière Merveilleuse! “A wonderful experience.” That was the unanmous opinion of six ABCBC members who traveled to Messac, France for a week-long houseboat cruise on the Vilaine River and Nantes to Brest Canal. The cruise took them from Messac to Josselin, a side trip to La Gacilly, and back to Messac. The people were friendly and very helpful, the countryside and villages along the cruise path were beautiful, the food was sometimes great, good wine was inexpensive, and the boat was comfortable. The cruisers included experienced canalers Louise and Jeff Lagrew and ocean and lake sailors Beverly and Ralph Merten and Janice and Jack Fish,. Jeff says it was the most relaxing vacation he has ever had. The houseboat -- not large by Kentucky standards -- was a Horizon 4, 13.5m x 4.35m (44.29' x14.272'), 8 passenger, 4 cabin, single engine diesel, governed at a top speed of 5 knots. (Hey, the world was discovered at 5 knots. And, to be certain, you want to see the French countryside slowly.) The boat steers just like any other non-keel, single prop houseboat. The Horizon 4 is designed beam-wise to just fit the old French locks such as those on the Nantes to Brest Canal which are 26m x 4.50m (85.3' x14.764'). These locks date back to 1842. Many of them are total manual operations. Each cabin has its own private bathroom. Other creature comforts include a propane stove with oven, a battery-inverter system to operate the microwave, lighting, heating, and flush toilets. When not using shore power running the engine for four hours daily will keep the system charged and provide hot water. Filling the water tanks every other day provided adequate water for six people to shower daily. The boat is equipped with bow and stern thrusters, greatly simplifying locking and docking. The boat was chartered from Le Boat, a large charter company operating throughout Europe, with one of its bases at the Messac marina. The marina is 800 meters from the rail station, making it an easy walk. https://www.facebook.com/bluegrassboatingclub/photos/pcb.491351051237653/491337781238980/?type=3

The boat was excellent, the staff in Homps met us with good service. We will recommend to others and may also ourselves take the a trip again. Some negative remarks are about insuffient kitchen equipment in the boat when 8 persons were going to live there for a week. Pan and pots were too small and the cutlery for cooking insufficient. And there were NO equipment for making coffee! Otherwisw, excellent. Refer to previous information,at item 1.

Great experience. The Horizon 4 was a clean, well appointed boat. Lots of space even though there were 8 of us on board. We got caught out a few times with not being able to eat out easily, particularly on the first few nights of our trip (so the stretch between Castelnaudary and Carcassonne). For example we stopped near Pexiora, walked into the village only to find the restaurant was shut and there were no shops or even a petrol station to buy provisions. Le Boat need to provide more information on where the shops, restaurants and petrol stations are as they are very few and far between and once you've stopped for the night you have no way of getting anywhere else. When we broke down Le Boat were quick to respond and it was only a few hours before we headed off again. Fantastic boat but the same size as a Horizon 3. Adult cabins at the front are therefore small but were fine.

Efficient and friendly Beautifully designed. One minor criticism - a map enclosure for the "Captain" would have been really helpful. The showers in the cabins were excellent - no more crouching down to hold in the "drain basin" button, and loads of headroom.
